Antisemitic incidents in California have surged 210% in the last decade.
Students are increasingly being exposed to biased content or even outright antisemitism from school and district leaders. They internalize those messages and take it out on their Jewish peers. And schools lack sufficient training, tools, or accountability to respond.
AB 715 strengthens protections against antisemitism and all forms of discrimination in K-12 education by:
-
Giving schools the tools to identify, respond to, prevent, and counter antisemitism.
-
Ensuring classroom content and materials are unbiased, respectful, and welcoming to everyone.
-
Creating an Antisemitism Prevention Coordinator to train educators and school leaders about antisemitism, track incidents, advise on accountability measures, and recommend future legislation.
-
Requiring an annual notification to all schools on the protections, requirements, and responsibilities in this bill.
